The best apartments and places to stay in Gdansk: companies ranked by guest reviews (September 2026)

· 10 min czytania
The short answer. As of 1 September 2026, the apartment company in Gdansk rated highest by guests is Apartmore: 4.7 on Google (680 reviews) and 4.74 on Airbnb (1,059 reviews), with Superhost status. Behind it come Lion Apartments from Sopot (4.6 and 4.79) and Downtown Apartments (4.6 and 4.72). The ranking uses public guest ratings only, and every figure can be checked in a few minutes.

When you look for a place to stay in Gdansk, you usually compare single listings: photos, price, distance to the Long Market. You rarely check who is behind the listing. Yet the company decides what state you find the apartment in, whether the address in the listing matches the one you drive to, and whether you can get inside at any hour without waiting for someone with keys. We collected guest ratings for companies running apartments in Gdansk and the Tri-City and put them into one table. Below there is also a short guide to where to stay in Gdansk so that you can walk everywhere.

One thing up front: we run one of the companies being compared. That is why we publish all the figures, including the ones where others beat us, and describe exactly where they come from (the methodology sits under the questions at the end of the article).

Read on 1 September 2026. Google profiles run from outside the Tri-City: BookingHost (Warsaw), Sun & Snow (Warsaw), RentPlanet (Wroclaw).

Companies with only one source or too small a sample stayed outside the table: Renters (no company profile on Google; Airbnb 4.51 from 21,533 reviews), LTC Apartments, Blue Mandarin and Citystay (no company account on Airbnb), plus INA Rent, Zojka-Rent and Unique Apartments (fewer than 50 reviews on Google).

How to read this table when you are looking for a place to stay

The number of reviews and the rating are two different things. Downtown Apartments, BookingHost and Renters have tens of thousands of reviews because they run apartments in many cities. Volume tells you the size of the company, the rating tells you how guests remember the stay.

In search results and on the portals the same offer shows up under different names: apartment, aparthotel, short stay rental, sometimes just the name of the building. Check the name of the company behind the listing, because that is who answers for your stay.

It is worth looking at both sources at once. A company that scores high on Google and high on Airbnb holds its level regardless of the channel a guest arrived through. A wide gap between the sources (the largest in the table is StayWin: 4.76 on Airbnb against 4.3 on Google) means the experience depends on the channel, the apartment or the season.

The top of the table is tight: six hundredths of a point separate first place from third, and on Airbnb alone two companies rate higher than the winner. With differences that small, the choice comes down to what the ratings do not show.

Six things worth checking before you book

Whether the company gives the exact addressSome listings show only the neighbourhood and the address arrives after payment. In Gdansk the difference between “the Old Town” and a specific street can be a quarter of an hour on foot and a completely different view. Look for listings with the building address visible before you book.
Who cleansAn in-house cleaning team means daily control over cleanliness and bed linen. With work contracted out, the standard varies. You cannot check this from the outside, but it shows in the ratings: companies with their own team score similarly across every channel.
Check-in timeThe train from Warsaw arrives after ten in the evening, the flight from London lands at one in the morning. Check whether the apartment offers self check-in at any hour, or whether keys are picked up at an office, and what hours that office keeps.
Whether booking direct is cheaperThe same offer is priced differently in every channel, because portals add their own fees and companies run separate promotions of their own. Compare the price on the portal and on the company website before you click “book”.
SuperhostThe only external certificate of guest service quality, verified by Airbnb every quarter for the whole account, not for a single listing. Three companies in the table hold it: Apartmore, Lion Apartments and StayWin. All three are local.
Whether you are booking a specific apartmentOn the portals you often buy a category (“a two-person apartment”) and which one you get turns out on arrival. On a company website you usually book exactly the one you see in the photos.

Where to stay in Gdansk: which area fits your plan

The Main Town (the Long Market, Mariacka, Dlugie Pobrzeze) is the shortest walk to the monuments and the widest choice of restaurants, and also the busiest until late. Apartments here sit in townhouses and rebuilt merchant houses, with paid street parking.

Granary Island is new development across the Green Bridge, a few minutes on foot from the Long Market, with a view of the Motlawa and the old town. Many buildings have underground garages, so it is worth asking before you book.

Along the Motlawa, on both banks (Lastadia, Sienna Grobla, Angielska Grobla, Olowianka), it is quieter, and the centre is 10–15 minutes away on foot along the waterfront or across the footbridge. This is where an apartment with a water view is easiest to find.

Mlode Miasto is the area around the Museum of the Second World War, the European Solidarity Centre and the former shipyard: 15–20 minutes on foot to the Long Market, recent buildings, fewer tourists.

Brzezno and Jelitkowo are the choice if the beach matters more than the old town. The centre is about half an hour away by tram. Apartmore has no apartments there, so the table above does not compare seaside offers.

A few rules we have kept since 2017 answer that list directly.

Central Gdansk only. All of our apartments, more than 150 of them, sit in 34 buildings across five areas: the Old Town, Granary Island, the Motlawa waterfront, Mlode Miasto and Dolne Miasto. From each of them you can walk to the Long Market. You see the building address before you book, not after.

Check-in at any hour. Every apartment has self check-in and you get the instructions before you arrive. If you would rather collect the keys from a person, our office in Gdansk is open between 10:00 and 18:00.

Our own cleaning team. Cleaning, changing the linen and small repairs between stays are done by our own staff, not by contractors. That is why our rating on Google and on Airbnb is almost identical: 4.7 and 4.74.

Booking straight with us. On apartmore.pl you book without an intermediary, and new guests get 5% off with the code GDANSK5.

A specific apartment, not a category. You book exactly the apartment you see in the photos. The system also handles bookings of several apartments at once, for family and company trips.

Pets, parking, flexibility. The large majority of the apartments accept pets and many come with a parking space; both filters are on the apartment list. Early check-in and late check-out are arranged whenever the calendar allows.

Nine years in one city. We know Gdansk well enough to advise which area fits your plan: the quieter side of the river, the island in the middle of the city, or the lanes by St Mary’s Basilica.

Frequently asked questions

Which apartment company in Gdansk has the best reviews?
As of 1 September 2026 the highest combined Google and Airbnb score belongs to Apartmore (4.72), ahead of Lion Apartments (4.70) and Downtown Apartments (4.66). On Google alone Apartmore rates highest (4.7 from 680 reviews); on Airbnb alone it is Lion Apartments (4.79).
Is it better to book through Booking, Airbnb or directly?
Portals are convenient for comparing many companies at once. Once you know where you want to stay, check the price on the company website too: it is the same apartment, but the terms and the promotions on offer can differ from the portal. On apartmore.pl new guests get 5% off with the code GDANSK5.
Apartment or hotel in Gdansk: which one pays off?
For one or two nights as a couple the price difference is usually small and location decides. An apartment wins on longer stays, with a family or a group of three to six (one booking instead of two rooms) and when a kitchen or a washing machine comes in handy. A hotel wins when you want breakfast included, a reception desk and daily housekeeping. In an apartment the cleaning happens between stays, and breakfast is usually not included.
Where should you stay in Gdansk for a weekend?
For two nights, stay where you can walk everywhere: the Main Town, Granary Island or the Motlawa waterfront. You lose no time commuting and you walk back in the evening. If you are coming by car, check before booking whether the apartment has a parking space: parking in the centre is paid and spaces are scarce.
Can you check in without picking up keys?
More and more often, yes: you get a code to the lock or to a key box and you walk in at the hour you arrive. Before booking, check the listing for self check-in and for any cut-off time for arrivals. Some companies still hand over keys at their office, during office hours.
Where in Gdansk should you rent an apartment to walk everywhere?
It depends on your plan. The Old Town is a few minutes on foot from the Long Market and Neptune, and also the busiest in the evening. Granary Island means recent buildings with a view of the Motlawa and the old town. The right bank of the Motlawa (Sienna Grobla, Angielska Grobla) is quieter, with a footbridge into the centre. Mlode Miasto is the area around the Museum of the Second World War and the former shipyard.
Is 4.7 a high score?
In this industry, yes. Among the sixteen companies we checked, no other reached 4.7 on Google with more than 50 reviews. On Airbnb, four of the nine companies are above 4.7: Lion Apartments, StayWin, Apartmore and Downtown Apartments.
How do you check a company before booking?
Type the company name into Google Maps and look for the company profile, not a single building. On Airbnb, open any listing of that company and scroll to the host section: it shows the total number of reviews, the average and the Superhost status.

Where the ratings come from and how we counted them

Every value was read on 1 September 2026 from two public sources.

Google. For each company we took the company profile on Google Maps, meaning the listing for the whole business rather than a single building. We set a threshold of 50 reviews: an average built on a dozen votes says more about chance than about the company. Where a company runs several profiles, we calculated an average weighted by the number of reviews.

Airbnb. We took the host profile rating, not the rating of a single listing. A host profile sums up reviews from every apartment on the account, so it comes closest to a rating of the company. We also checked the Superhost status, which Airbnb verifies every quarter and grants only to accounts with an average of at least 4.8 over the past year, a response rate of at least 90 percent and a cancellation rate below 1 percent.

The order in the table is the arithmetic mean of the Google rating and the Airbnb rating. Companies for which we have only one source, or too small a sample, are described under the table. The full data for sixteen companies, including the view from an apartment owner’s side, is in the ranking of rental management companies in the Tri-City.

Disclaimers

This comparison was prepared by Apartmore, one of the companies in it. Every figure comes from public profiles on Google Maps and Airbnb, read on 1 September 2026, and anyone can verify them. Ratings change daily; we update the table once a quarter, together with the ranking of rental management companies the data comes from. We do not assess the quality of other companies beyond what follows from guest ratings.
