Restaurants in Gdańsk worth recommending. The best restaurants?
For most people, the first things that come to mind when they think of Gdańsk are mainly its history, beautiful architecture, charming streets, and the Baltic Sea. And yet, among these charming streets, we can find some real culinary gems. Choosing favorite places is, of course, a subjective matter, but in this article, I’d like to share my favorite restaurants in Gdańsk —places I happily return to when I’m looking not only for delicious food but also for a unique atmosphere and hospitality. Each of them has something special to offer, something that makes it not just another restaurant on the city map, but a true culinary experience.
Mandu Pierogi Restaurant – Elżbietańska Street
Mandu is one of those places in Gdańsk that I always love coming back to—it’s perfect if you love pierogi in every possible form! They serve both traditional flavors we’ve known for years and modern—even exotic—variations that can really surprise you. I especially recommend trying the pierogi of the month, because the chefs at Mandu always have something special up their sleeves. The atmosphere of this place isn’t just about the delicious food, but also the friendly service and the stylish, warmly decorated interior. And the best proof of Mandu’s popularity is the line that regularly forms outside the restaurant on weekends—that’s definitely a sign that it’s worth stopping by!
Surf Burger – Garncarska Street
Just a dozen or so meters from Mandu, there’s a real treat for burger lovers — Surf Burger! It’s a place that serves huge, juicy burgers packed with fantastic toppings that will delight your taste buds. Whether you’re a fan of classic beef, tender chicken, or looking for a vegan burger, there’s something for everyone here. I especially recommend the chicken Forfiter served with thick-cut Belgian fries. Surf Burger isn’t just about the food—it’s a true culinary experience you’ll remember for a long time!
Pyra Bar – Garbary Street
If, like me, you love potatoes in every form, then Pyra Bar is a must-visit! They specialize in potato dishes and serve them in truly masterful style. You’ll find crispy potato pancakes, hearty potato casseroles, and aromatic potato cake—each dish tastes like real, homemade comfort food. Although the place looks modest, the flavor, generous portions, and affordable prices ensure you’ll always leave satisfied. On warmer days, you can relax in the cozy outdoor seating area—even though we’re right in the heart of the city, Pyra Bar is tucked away enough that you can catch a moment of respite there.

Grazie Mille Restaurant – Węglarska Street
I have a huge soft spot for Italian cuisine, and Grazie Mille is a place that perfectly suits my culinary tastes! Their focaccia and pizzas are absolutely delicious; with every bite, they transport me straight to sunny Italy. The whole experience is complemented by a truly Italian atmosphere—soft background music and warm, stylish decor make you feel like you’re in a small trattoria in the heart of Tuscany. If you’re dreaming of an authentic taste of Italy in Gdańsk, Grazie Mille is the perfect choice!
Summary
It goes without saying that choosing your favorite or best restaurants will always be subjective, because each one offers not only great food but also a unique atmosphere and memories—and, of course, personal preferences. I hope my recommendations will inspire you to try new places, flavors, and experiences that this extraordinary city has to offer. Whether you’re a Gdańsk resident or just visiting, it’s worth letting yourself be swept away by a culinary adventure and allowing each dish to tell its own story. Enjoy your meal!
