MAJALAND – amusement park
The Majaland amusement park in Gdańsk, inspired by Maja the Bee, is a great place where both children and adults will spend unforgettable moments. Here you will find slides, themed playgrounds, carousels and Sky Fly, an interactive attraction in which you play the role of a pilot – you can rise to a height of 22 m and control your machine. In addition, the park has a gastronomic offer, thanks to which no one is afraid of hunger. The Crane – Żuraw
Although the Crane has been part of the skyline of Gdańsk since the late Middle Ages, its renovation was completed this year and the facility is again available to visitors. The new exhibition has been designed in such a way that visitors feel like they are in the original 17th-century interiors. Moreover, you will also find here the only attempt in Poland to recreate a port tavern from the 17th century. The exhibition tells, among other things, the secrets of navigation when a ship enters a port, transaction procedures in a pile chamber, ancient shipbuilding techniques and entertainment of the port city in a historic tavern.
The submarine “Sokół” in Gdynia
The ship “Sokół” will be open to visitors probably from the autumn. It is to take the place at the quay where until recently the “Błyskawica” stood. Inside you will be able to see rooms such as the kitchen, the positions of the electrician, the navigator, the operator of devices used to detect other ships, the shower and toilet, and torpedo launchers. commander’s cabin and engines. ORP “Sokół” is a Kobben-class ship, which was built in the German Nordseewerke shipyard for the Royal Norwegian Navy and launched on September 2, 1966. After completing its service in the Norwegian Navy, the unit was handed over to the Polish armed forces.
Wisłoujście Fortress
Like the Crane, the Wisłoujście Fortress was reopened after a three-year renovation. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the restored historic Napoleonic Barracks along with a new temporary exhibition. Moreover, virtual reality stations will also be available in the building. The purpose of the fortress was primarily to control and protect merchant ships, as well as to navigate by light, and it also had military significance until the 19th century. This is the only such viewing point in Gdańsk from which you can see ships entering the shipyard. If the weather is right, you can even see the Hel Peninsula.
Great Mill – Museum of Amber
The Museum of Amber moved to the Great Mill is a collection of over 1,000 exhibits. Here we will find an amber forest, inclusions from 40 million years ago (such as a lizard in amber) as well as modern designs by artists. The building itself is the largest mill in medieval Europe, powered in the past by the waters of the Radunia Canal. It was built by the Teutonic Knights around 1350, and it is one of the largest historic buildings in Gdańsk.
Central Park in Gdynia
For people who want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, the ideal solution will be Central Park, the green lungs of Gdynia. It is a huge space intended for recreation and outdoor activities. Here you will find a mini-skate park, an extensive playground, a silence zone, a bocce court, a roller skating track, a running track, dog runs, restaurants, as well as a water reservoir with fountains and a pond that can be transformed into an ice rink in winter. There is an underground parking lot right next to the park, so if we go there by car, we don’t have to worry about finding a parking space.
