Events in Gdańsk in October 2026 mean above all Gdańsk Jewellery Week at the start of the month, five concerts at Ergo Arena and the first edition of the Sopot Half Marathon. October is the month when the city returns to itself. The queues on the Long Market disappear, you can find a seat in St. Mary’s Basilica, and accommodation prices drop to a level nobody sees in July. In return you have to accept two things: twelve degrees during the day and an earlier dusk.

Events in Gdańsk and the Tricity: October 2026

On top of that, theatres and the Baltic Philharmonic on Ołowianka play throughout the month, and smaller fairs and markets take place at weekends. If you are looking for what is happening in Gdańsk on one particular weekend, the easiest way is to check the organisers’ own pages: individual performances and smaller events are often added at the last minute, and monthly calendars do not catch them.

Gdańsk Jewellery Week, 2 to 4 October

The most Gdańsk event of the month. Amber has been a local commodity here for several hundred years, and for three days the city shows it at full scale: the jewellery and amber zone at AmberExpo on Żaglowa Street, open from 10:00 to 18:00, exhibitions by Polish and international artists, demonstrations of jewellery techniques and workshops.

Two things are worth knowing before you go. The children’s zone is free for anyone under fourteen. The ticket also covers entry to the Amber Museum until the end of 2026, so you can leave that visit for another day of your stay.

Ergo Arena: from Mrozu to Scooter

October is a busy month at Ergo Arena. RESISTANCE Poland on 10 October, Mrozu with his “Odpowiedni moment” tour on 17 October, Królowie Życia, that is Skawiński and Tkaczyk, on 24 October, and KPop All-Stars on 29 October. The month closes on 30 October with the Scooter Halloween Rave Festival.

The hall stands on the border between Gdańsk and Sopot. From the centre of Gdańsk take the SKM train to Gdańsk Żabianka station, then walk ten minutes along Subisława and Rybacka streets. The alternative is a tram to the Gospody or Pomorska stop, served by lines 2, 4, 6, 8 and 12.

After a concert the trains run less often, but night buses N4 and N14 head towards Gdańsk. It is worth checking the return timetable before you set out, because the last departures leave earlier than some events finish.

The Sopot Half Marathon and the night the clocks go back

The first edition of the Sopot Half Marathon takes place on 25 October, finishing at Ergo Arena. For runners it is a new date in the calendar; for everyone else it means traffic restrictions in Sopot and on the Gdańsk border on Sunday morning.

On the same night, from 24 to 25 October, we return to winter time. At 3:00 AM the clocks go back to 2:00 AM. Your phone will do it by itself, the clock in your car and the alarm by your bed will not. Runners get an extra hour of sleep that night, and everyone else gets the sun setting at around 4:15 PM from Monday onwards.

Weather: twelve degrees and two hours less daylight

The average daytime temperature in Gdańsk in October is around 12 degrees, and around 6 at night. It rains on roughly eight days a month, some 36 millimetres in total. The wind off the Bay is stronger than inland, so the temperature you actually feel on the pier in Brzeźno can be several degrees lower than on the Long Market.

Daylight shortens by about two hours over the month: on 1 October the sun sets after six in the evening, on 31 October at around 4:15 PM. Plan outdoor sightseeing for the morning and leave museums, restaurants and concerts for the evening. A rain jacket works better here than an umbrella, because in wind off the sea an umbrella tends to be useless.

What to do when it rains

Gdańsk has a ready answer to that, and most of these places are empty in October. The Museum of the Second World War and the European Solidarity Centre are a few hours each. The Amber Museum in the Great Mill takes about an hour, and if you have a Jewellery Week ticket you get in without paying again. On Ołowianka stands the National Maritime Museum, with the Crane on the other side of the Motława.

Closer to entertainment: bowling alleys and play areas at Forum Gdańsk, a cinema in the shopping centre by the station, and for anyone in the mood for a sauna and a pool, several facilities in the city and in Sopot.

The amber zone at Jewellery Week is free for children under fourteen and offers workshops rather than display cases alone. Beyond that, Hewelianum on Góra Gradowa is open, where part of the exhibition is indoors and part outside, so the programme can be matched to the weather. The zoo in Oliwa keeps shorter hours in October than in summer, so check before you travel.

The beach works in October too, just differently. Brzeźno and Stogi at this time of year mean a walk, amber after a storm and hot chocolate rather than a swim. For children that is usually more than enough.
