Within a ten-minute walk of D\u0142ugi Targ you have five museums, each with its own free-admission day, a museum of illusions on D\u0142ugie Ogrody and a tower with a view over the whole Main Town. Below are fifteen indoor places with addresses, opening hours and ticket prices, and at the end a plan by day of the week, so you know where you get in for free on a given day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"apm-meta\">Hours and prices checked on the venues\u2019 websites on 23 September 2026. Amber Museum in the Great Mill<\/strong> (Wielkie M\u0142yny 16). One of the largest amber collections in the world, with inclusions 40 million years old, inside a Teutonic mill from around 1350, the largest in medieval Europe. Tuesday to Sunday 10:00 to 18:00, on Monday 12:00 to 18:00 with free admission. Standard ticket 37 z\u0142, reduced 26 z\u0142, family 99 z\u0142. About 5 minutes from D\u0142ugi Targ.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Main Town Hall and Artus Court<\/strong> (D\u0142uga 46\/47 and D\u0142ugi Targ 43\/44). Two branches of the Museum of Gda\u0144sk standing next to each other. In the Town Hall the Red Room with its painted ceiling, in Artus Court the great Renaissance tiled stove. Hours as at the Amber Museum, Monday 12:00 to 18:00 free of charge. Separate ticket for each: 26 z\u0142 standard, 19 z\u0142 reduced, 70 z\u0142 family.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Uphagen House<\/strong> (D\u0142uga 12). An 18th-century merchant\u2019s house with reconstructed interiors. Hours and prices as above, Monday free of charge.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. National Maritime Museum<\/strong>: Maritime Culture Centre (O\u0142owianka 9-13), the Crane (Szeroka 67\/68) and the ship So\u0142dek. Wednesday is the free-admission day for permanent exhibitions, and on that day the sites are open from 13:00 to 17:00. On the other days, Tuesday to Sunday 10:00 to 17:00, the Crane from 9:00. Closed on Monday. Ticket 26 z\u0142 standard, 19 z\u0142 reduced. Note: the interactive hall in the Maritime Culture Centre, the part children like most, is closed for modernisation until 18 October 2026. You reach O\u0142owianka by footbridge from D\u0142ugie Pobrze\u017ce in about 5 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. National Museum in Gda\u0144sk<\/strong> (Toru\u0144ska 1). A former Franciscan monastery with Gda\u0144sk and Flemish painting. Tuesday to Sunday 10:00 to 17:00, last entry 16:30, free admission on Tuesday. Ticket 25 z\u0142 standard, 20 z\u0142 reduced. Important: Hans Memling\u2019s \u201cLast Judgement\u201d is being conserved and you will not see it before the end of 2026. If you are coming specifically for Memling, wait until next season. The museum stands next to our <a href=\"https:\/\/apartmore.pl\/en\/apartamenty\/torunska\/\">apartments on Toru\u0144ska<\/a>, about 25 minutes on foot from D\u0142ugi Targ or a few tram stops.<\/p>\n<h2>Two big museums in the Young Town: the war and Solidarity<\/h2>\n<figure><img src=\"https:\/\/apartmore.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/European-Solidarity-Centre-ecs-gdansk.jpg\" alt=\"European Solidarity Centre in Gda\u0144sk from above, rust-coloured building next to the Monument to the Fallen Shipyard Workers\" width=\"1079\" height=\"618\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"><figcaption>The European Solidarity Centre and Solidarity Square. The Museum of the Second World War stands a few minutes further on, across the Radunia canal.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>6. Museum of the Second World War<\/strong> (pl. W\u0142adys\u0142awa Bartoszewskiego 1). The main exhibition is underground and takes half a day without rushing. Wednesday to Sunday 10:00 to 18:00, on Tuesday 10:00 to 16:00 and on that day admission is free. Closed on Monday. Standard ticket 33 z\u0142, reduced 23 z\u0142, family 72 z\u0142 for up to five people, children under 7 free. The audio guide in 14 languages costs 12 z\u0142 and the museum recommends it for individual visits. The subject is heavy; with younger children Hevelianum works better. About 20 minutes on foot from D\u0142ugi Targ.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. European Solidarity Centre<\/strong> (plac Solidarno\u015bci 1). The story of August 1980 and martial law, plus a library and a winter garden where you can simply sit for a while. From October to April: Monday and Wednesday to Friday 10:00 to 17:00, Saturday and Sunday 10:00 to 18:00. On Tuesday the exhibition is closed. Standard ticket 40 z\u0142, reduced 35 z\u0142, family 100 z\u0142 (2+1) or 115 z\u0142 (2+2 or 2+3), children under 7 free. Plan it together with the Museum of the Second World War, as they are about 5 minutes apart, but remember Tuesday: on that day one is free and the other is closed.<\/p>\n<h2>Indoors with children: science, illusions and a play centre<\/h2>\n<figure><img src=\"https:\/\/apartmore.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Hevelianum-Gda\u0144sk.jpg\" alt=\"Inside Hevelianum in Gda\u0144sk, an interactive exhibition with wooden experiment stations for children\" width=\"1480\" height=\"1018\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"><figcaption>Hevelianum on Gradowa Hill. The stations are made for touching, not for looking at.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>8. Hevelianum<\/strong> (Gradowa 6). A science centre in a former fort on Gradowa Hill, with interactive exhibitions on energy, puzzles and journeys, where everything may be touched. Interactive exhibitions package: standard ticket 30 z\u0142, reduced 25 z\u0142, family 80 z\u0142, children under 2 free. Entries are sold for specific time slots, so buy your ticket in advance at bilety.hevelianum.pl and check the hours for your day there. From D\u0142ugi Targ about 25 minutes on foot uphill, or by tram to the Hucisko stop and a few minutes further.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9. DeJa Vu Museum of Illusions<\/strong> (D\u0142ugie Ogrody 18). An Ames room, a vortex tunnel, holograms and several dozen installations made for photos. Daily 10:00 to 20:00, tickets on the spot without booking. Adults 49 z\u0142, pupils and students 42 z\u0142, children under 3 free, visitors under 14 enter with an adult. About 10 minutes from D\u0142ugi Targ, and from the <a href=\"https:\/\/apartmore.pl\/en\/apartamenty\/dlugie-ogrody\/\">apartments on D\u0142ugie Ogrody<\/a> literally a few steps.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10. Loopy\u2019s World<\/strong> (al. Grunwaldzka 229, Wrzeszcz). A large play centre with two zones for toddlers from one to three years and a main zone with slides. Monday to Thursday and Sunday 10:00 to 20:00, Friday and Saturday until 21:00. The accompanying adult enters free; the children\u2019s price list is at loopys.pl. It is the only place on this list outside the centre: about 20 minutes by tram from Brama Wy\u017cynna.<\/p>\n<h2>Tower, church, escape room and an evening in town<\/h2>\n<p><strong>11. St Mary\u2019s Basilica<\/strong> (Podkramarska 5). Considered the largest brick church in the world. Every day at 11:57 the figures of the astronomical clock perform, free of charge. The interior is open on weekdays 8:30 to 17:30, on Sundays 11:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 17:30. The tower is open daily 10:00 to 18:00, also in winter, ticket 20 z\u0142 standard and 10 z\u0142 reduced. They close it only during a storm; ordinary rain is no obstacle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>12. Escape room and bowling.<\/strong> Zorkout at Spichrzowa 28 (Granary Island), rooms from 110 to 230 z\u0142 per group. MK Bowling in the Manhattan shopping centre in Wrzeszcz, from 59 to 149 z\u0142 per lane per hour. At weekends book in advance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13. Evening: Baltic Philharmonic and the Shakespeare Theatre.<\/strong> The Philharmonic at O\u0142owianka 1, a few minutes from the Crane; the theatre at Bogus\u0142awskiego 1, just behind Brama Wy\u017cynna. Check the programme and prices for the evening at filharmonia.gda.pl and teatrszekspirowski.pl.<\/p>\n<p><strong>14. Cinema.<\/strong> Helios in Forum Gda\u0144sk by Gda\u0144sk G\u0142\u00f3wny station, about 10 minutes from D\u0142ugi Targ.<\/p>\n<p><strong>15. Outside Gda\u0144sk, by SKM train.<\/strong> Experyment Science Centre in Gdynia (al. Zwyci\u0119stwa 96\/98): ticket 35 z\u0142 standard, 25 z\u0142 reduced, 85 z\u0142 family, closed on Monday, about 45 minutes door to door. Aquapark Sopot (Zamkowa G\u00f3ra 5): one hour 75 z\u0142 standard, 65 z\u0142 reduced, SKM to Sopot takes a quarter of an hour plus about 15 minutes on foot.<\/p>\n<h2>Which day is free where: a plan for a rainy week<\/h2>\n<p>Gda\u0144sk museums have different free days and different closing days.
